05. Essential Setup Before Importing The Template Kit

Before importing the template kit, you need to add some pages, blog posts and set up the navigation menu. By doing these, after importing the template kit, you can see the complete design.

Add Pages

From the WordPress admin menu, go to Pages > Add New

Enter page name in the “Add title” area. e.g., Home

Click on the “WordPress Logo” to return to the page list screen.

And do the same process to add some other pages. e.g., About, service, FAQs, Contact, etc.

Add Blog Posts

From the WordPress admin menu, go to Posts > Add New

  1. Enter blog post title in the “Add title” area.
  2. Enter some post content in the “Start writing or type / to choose a block” area. Temporarily you can enter some dummy paragraph in this area.
  3. From the right side, click on “Set featured image” box, and insert an image from the media library.
  4. Finally, click on the “Publish” button from the top-right corner to publish the post.

And do the same process to add several posts.

Temporarily, you can clone the post by installing the “Duplicate Post” plugin from the WordPress plugin repository.

Create Navigation Menu

From the WordPress admin menu, go to Appearance > Menus

  1. Checkmark the Page items those you want to add to your menu.
  2. Click on the “Add to Menu” button.
  3. Enter a name for your menu in the “Menu Name” box.
  4. Click on the “Create Menu” button.

Assign Navigation Menu Display Location

After creating the menu:

  1. Checkmark the “Primary” in the Display location under the “Menu Settings” options.
  2. Finally, click on the “Save Menu” button.
